Your wedding day isn’t just something you see — it’s something you feel. And the way it’s photographed should honor that.

For the past eight years, one of the greatest joys of this work has been the relationships I’ve built with the people I photograph. I believe, wholeheartedly, that wedding photography is at its best when there is trust, ease, and a real connection between a couple and their photographer. That relationship is the foundation of every meaningful image I’ve created for Rachel Elyse brides over the years.

It warms my heart to step into a wedding day feeling like an old friend rather than a stranger with a camera. This is one of the most emotional and magical days of your life — you deserve to spend it with someone who genuinely cares about you, your story, and how the day unfolds. That care shapes everything: how comfortable you feel, how present you can be, and ultimately, how your memories are preserved.

This guide walks you through how I intentionally structure my wedding experience — and why it’s designed to help you feel known, supported, and fully immersed in your day.

Date Booked

Make it official

Sessions can take place anywhere from immediately following a proposal to just a few days before the wedding. We’ve found that there isn’t a “good” or “bad” time to take your photos.

Engagement Session

We check in about two months before the wedding to start chatting about timeline specifics, special details, family formal shot lists, special traditions and anything else we should know about your big day.

Wedding Day Prep

It's finally here! The day the two of you say "I Do" and dance the night away surrounded by your family and friends. Just know we're excited to celebrate and capture your wedding day. It's going to be awesome

The Big Day

You can expect your photos to be delivered via an online gallery within about three weeks of your wedding. At that time, we'll also send over details about preserving your images through prints and albums.

They're Here!

Your wedding day deserves to be felt fully — not rushed, staged, or pulled apart for photos. My role goes far beyond showing up with a camera. I’m here to create space for you to be present, to feel supported, and to trust that every meaningful moment is being documented with care.

From the very beginning, I intentionally build real relationships with my couples. By the time your wedding day arrives, I don’t feel like a vendor — I feel like someone you know. That familiarity changes everything. It allows you to relax, to move naturally, and to experience your day without self-consciousness or pressure. The result is imagery that feels honest, emotional, and deeply true to you.

I promise to be a calming, steady presence — especially in the moments that feel emotional, fast, or overwhelming. I’ll guide you when you need direction and step back when the moment deserves to unfold naturally.

I promise to be deeply attentive to the details and the in-between moments: the quiet pauses, the nervous laughter, the hands reaching for each other without thinking. The parts of the day that often go unnoticed, but end up meaning the most.

I promise to approach your day with intention — from a thoughtfully crafted timeline to gentle guidance that keeps things flowing while protecting your experience. My goal is for you to remember how your wedding day felt, not just how it looked.

And above all, I promise to care. About you, your story, and the weight of the moments you’re trusting me to preserve. This isn’t just photography — it’s an experience designed so you can stay present while I capture it all.

Beautiful images are all about the experience...

What is included in my
wedding experience and why:

a curated Experience

I have curated my wedding experience very intentionally. Everything I offer and recommend is a strategic part of an overall experience that leads to what my couples ultimately desire:  A wedding experience designed for couples who value being boldly sincere and gracefully authentic — fully present in their day, deeply connected to each other, and confident their story is being documented with intention and care.

Engagement
Session

Second Photographer

I have found that for a traditional wedding day, I need a minimum of 8 hours to capture the full story of your day with a stress-free timeline.

I include an engagement session complimentary because this is my opportunity to get to know you and empower you to feel comfortable in front of the camera.

I have found that a second photographer adds sooo much to your wedding day. My second photographers are focused on capturing beautiful candids through-out the day. They help me capture the full story of your wedding day.

film coverage

Film coverage adds a timeless, intentional layer to your wedding experience — capturing moments with softness, depth, and an honesty that feels both sincere and  authentic.

Unless you’re a model, being photographed probably feels a little awkward. I do this for a living and I still always feel a little out of place when we have our photos taken every year.

I'm a big fan of engagement sessions for a few reasons. First, they allow you to get comfortable in front of the camera. It takes time for most couples to warm up to being photographed and understand how we pose. Timelines can be pretty tight on weddings days and 30 minutes may be all we have for portraits - which is why

I've found that wedding day portraits turn out so much better when couples do engagement sessions ahead of time.

Second, you can showcase your personalities in a more casual setting that is significant to the two of you (and even include pets!) While they’re great for save-the-dates, I’ve taken engagement photos anywhere from 18 months in advance to a few days before the wedding.

All of my collections include a complimentary session.

I've photographed over 150 weddings as the lead photographer, and I've had over 1,000 portrait sessions. And since there's only 52 weekends in a year, my weekends have been basically filled with love stories and late-night celebrations ever since I became a photographer 8+ years ago!

This might start getting a bit technical, but I personally use a Sony a7IV and Sony A7iii and have a full kit of lenses. I lean heavily on my 50mm and 85mm prime lenses, that beautiful BOKEH. Both are literally on me at all times throughout your wedding day to minimize changing lenses, switching memory cards, or changing batteries. Every moment matters - and this is where the 8+ years of experience really kicks in.

I also have a robust flash and lighting system, and years of experience lighting any situation. You can feel confident that I will always get the shot and make sure you images look beautiful.

Film wise: I have 3 vintage cameras and shoot on Portra 200, 400, or BW depending. I also have a Minolta 401 for super 8 film.

A:

what kind of equipment do you use?

q:

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, I do! Traditional payments are $1000 due at the time of booking (within a week) and the final amount is due 5 days prior to your wedding day. But, if you wanted to do the payment plan, I can stretch it into equal 1/3's or 1/4's if that works best for you. Just let me know what you prefer, and I will make it happen. It's that easy.

For my 35mm film coverage included in my packages, I generally shoot on one roll of film. I deliver at least 25 images from that roll just due to the nature of film.

For my Super 8 film coverage, I generally shoot on two rolls (100 feet of film), take small clips throughout the day because for each foot of film, it costs $1.00 to process. I make a 2-4 minute highlight film delivered in your gallery.
